Stroll in our numerous gardens, take a deep breath at the top of the remparts and enjoy the most beautiful sight on the city, let yourself be amazed under the high vaults of the gothic chapel built "à l'angevine", or in front of the flamboyant architecture of the royal lodge and châtelet, discover the oldest portcullis of France at the Field Gate...
And, above all, don't miss the tapestry of the Apocalypse, a unique and giant masterpiece exhibited all year round and inscribed at the UNESCO "Memory of the World" program !
Temporary exhibitions and heritage interpretation spaces
The castle crew organizes two temporary exhibitions per year on the upper floors of the royal lodge, accessible with your admission ticket, with no extra fee.
Permanent or intermittent heritage interpretation areas will also allow you to learn more about the history of the place or about the Apocalypse tapestry.
Secret places...
In addition to the tours and exhibitions that you can discover on your own, some areas such as the dungeons or the former count's palace are open only during specific events.

A paper guide is available free of charge at the monument's front desk, in 9 languages (French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese). For families, a playful guide (French, English) can be purchased at the front desk (2 € extra fee).
Tours with an audio guide
Thanks to our audio guide, 2 hours of listening and ear-guided wandering are waiting for you ! Understand and discover the history and architecture of the castle as well as the tapestry of the Apocalypse.

The audio guide is available in 5 languages (French, English, Spanish, German, Italian). 3 € extra fee. They can be rented on the spot at the front desk or paid in advance on our e-ticketing service.
Playful activities
Have a break on your walk around the castle and come play with us ! Medieval board games, weaving workshops, architecture challenges, musical interludes... Come as you are and stay as long as you want !
