What is the "social field"?

For cultural institutions, the "social field" refers to audiences for whom access to culture is made difficult by their social or economic vulnerability.

The mission of the national monuments is to develop specific actions for these people who do not allow themselves to frequent cultural places, and this in close connection with national or local structures that are engaged in the fight against exclusion (REP, NGOs, associations fighting against precariousness, social centers, "youth" services of town halls, neighborhood houses, associations helping incoming populations, services of judicial protection of youth, etc.).

The visit offer

The monument's "Accueil Pour Tous" service offers visits or workshops to discover the castle from every angle:

  • its history and architecture
  • the tapestry of the Apocalypse
  • its gardens and biodiversity
  • and the various themes related to its history (the bestiary, the prisons, archaeology...)

Privileged moments of exchange, these walks are above all an opportunity to familiarize oneself with the places to feel more "at home" and to share a moment of conviviality.

  • Discounts: 1 visit or 1 workshop purchased = 1 visit or 1 workshop offered.

The Culture & Solidarity Charter of the City of Angers

To strengthen the link between the living cultures of the people and the "learned" cultures, by putting into words and staging the experiences, the knowledge and the wealth of the people

Since 2019, the castle is one of the 24 structures of artistic and cultural dissemination and mediation in Angers that offers every six months visits and activities to 45 associations of inhabitants, social integration, charities and neighborhood houses welcoming and accompanying people concerned by the Charter Culture and Solidarity.

Within the framework of this charter, which articulates social and cultural action policies, the monument has already welcomed over 500 visitors.
