Opening hours

From May 2nd to September 4th 
10:00 am - 6:30 pm

From September 5th to April 30th
10:00 am - 5:30 pm
On December 24th and 31st : closing at 4:30 pm.

Info
Last entry 45 min before closing time.
Visitors will be asked to vacate the exhibition rooms in the royal lodge 30 minutes before closing time and the Apocaypse gallery 15 minutes before closing time.

The castle is entirely closed on January 1st, May 1st and December 25th.

Restoration work in progress

The northern part of the walkway (above the entrance) from the mill tower to the hanging garden via the vegetable garden and the vineyard is temporarily closed to public.

Tickets prices

The entrance ticket gives access to the entire tour (ramparts, courtyards, gardens, royal lodge, chapel, Apocalypse gallery), including temporary exhibitions.

The castle of Angers is located in the center of the town of Angers, in a pedestrian zone. It will take you 5 to 10 minutes to walk from the nearest parking lots or bus stops to get to the entrance.

Using public transport facilities is the easiest way to come visit us !

By car

From Le Mans : A11 or N23 to Nantes
From Nantes : A11 or N23 to Le Mans 
From Tours: A85 then A11 to Nantes 
From Rennes: N157 to Laval, then N162 to Angers

The nearest free parking lot is located Place La Rochefoucauld, at 15 min walk from the castle. You can also park freely on the Park and Ride facilities and take the tram.

By bus and tram

The Angers-Saint-Laud bus station allows you to take many long-distance buses.

By bike

Angers is located on the cycle routes of "La Loire à Vélo", "La Vélo Françette" and "La vallée du Loir à vélo".

Bicycles or scooters are not allowed inside the monument. Bicycle parkway and garages are available in front of the entrance of the castle or at the Destination Angers Tourist Office located 100 meters to the entrance of the monument.

By train

Angers is connected by various TGV lines to the Atlantic coast or to Paris, Lille, Lyon, Brussels or even London.

The castle is accessible on foot from the Angers-Saint-Laud train station (15 min walk).

Good to know

Conditions of access

  • No deposit facilities nor cloakrooms. Entering with suitcases and big luggage is not allowed.
  • Visitors under 15 years old cannot enter without an adult.
  • The upper floors of the royal lodge are accessible during temporary exhibitions only.
  • For groups, reservations in advance may be required to access the castle and/or temporary exhibitions. Read the pages dedicated to groups.
  • Pets : only sighted companion or service animals are allowed.

Clothing

The castle of Angers is a place with many outdoor areas that may be exposed to the wind (gardens, ramparts) or unheated (chapel). In the Apocalypse Gallery, the temperature is about 19°C all year long for an art preservation matter.

You can eat in the castle's restaurant or have a picnic outside the castle, in the immediate vicinity.
