For the fifth edition of its grand bal, the château d'angers will be vibrating to the rhythm of medieval fantasy over the weekend!

Presentation

Fate is knocking at the gates of the Château d'Angers... While the Shadow, devouring the light, spreads to the East, a glimmer of hope and festivity lights up between the seventeen towers of our citadel. The programme for this year's 'Grand Bal' includes elven archery, mage encampments, readings of ancient tales, illumination workshops, miniature battles, a giant picnic, a fantasy stall and tattoos. And don't forget your best costume for the grand ball under the stars.

Fantasy stall

The fantasy Échoppe brings together creators, authors, illustrators and craftspeople from fantasy worlds. It's the real heart of the Grand Bal, offering a wide range of stands combining craft creation, publishing and the world of games. Visitors can discover fantasy and romance books, meet authors, explore LARP games and accessories, historical figurines and miniature games, as well as jewellery, decorative objects and creations designed for fans of the imaginary world.

Games and entertainment

Role-playing tables (sessions lasting around 2 hours), board games, bookmarking and illumination workshops and fantasy readings are on offer to the public, organised by "Le Grimoire de Lorphé", the association "L'Auberge des Rêveurs" and "Panthéa".

Activities dedicated to young audiences with the "Fantasy Trail" and the "Gnome War". Dynamic, interactive games designed with children in mind!

Fantasy" show - Ancient fencing circle

A choreographed ancient fencing show combining scripted combat and interaction with the audience, performed by eight artists. After each performance, there will be additional entertainment, especially for children.

The Grand Ball

Don't miss the big fantasy evening featuring entertainment, music and fire shows.

The programme includes a performance by Cléa, Princesse des Flammes, from the Futuravapeur company, comedy with the Académie d'Humour, a competition for the best costume (judges: Shudan Cosplay, Eyilinspy, Drayons'Cass), a fire show and two sets by Courseval (a bardcore band) for dancing under the stars!

7pm - 12:30pm The comedy show is not recommended for under -15s.

Sunday in the ditches (free, excluding tickets)

Picnic for a fantastic Sunday

A convivial time with food trucks, relaxation areas and light entertainment in the castle moat. Visitors can eat on site or bring their own picnic.

Entertainment

No banquet without music and entertainment! Enjoy the roving entertainment with the fantastic stilt walkers of the Futuravapeur Company, the horsewoman Cléa and her two horses Djazz and Fuego and the music of the Prima Culpa group, a duo with a hard-hitting dark folk concept, born of the explosive encounter between Scottish bagpipes and oriental war drums.
