THE PERMANENT COLLECTIONS

The Château d'Angers dominates the city from its rocky outcrop, occupied by man since Neolithic times! At one time the county palace of an English dynasty, at another the royal fortress of France, at another the iconic residence of the famous King René and the Dukes of Anjou, the château is also the guardian of a priceless treasure: the tapestry of the Apocalypse, a veritable medieval comic strip over 100 metres long and a masterpiece that is unique in the world.

Architecture, textiles, gardens: the Château d'Angers is a major French cultural site, representative of Anjou's heritage, at the heart of French and European history.
