- The site is largely outdoors, so be aware of weather conditions.
- The rampart walk may be closed in bad weather (wind, black ice, snow, rain, etc.)
- Access to the towers and ramparts is gained via a large number of steps, which can sometimes be irregular and slippery.
- The tower rooms are dark and the gallery containing the Apocalypse Tapestry is in semi-darkness and at a temperature of between 18 and 20°C.

La porte des champs était à l’origine l’entrée principale de la forteresse. On peut toujours y voir son système de défense avec herse et assommoirs.
Les jardins suggèrent le raffinement de la vie de cour au temps du roi René (1434-1480).
La célèbre tenture de l’Apocalypse commandée en 1375 par Louis I°, frère du roi Charles V, reste aujourd’hui la plus ancienne œuvre tissée de cette importance.
Aux XIVe et XV°e siècles, les ducs d’Anjou Louis Ier, Louis II et le roi René, princes éclairés et amateurs d’art, développent une vie de cour brillante influencée par leurs séjours à Naples. On leur doit le logis royal et la chapelle.
